Women's Guild Lung Institute
A Grand Vision
An unprecedented pledge to help fight pulmonary disease
We were ready for a new challenge. And Cedars-Sinai, already a leader in discovering new approaches to treating lung cancer and emphysema, was poised to assume a preeminent position in the field of pulmonary disease.

The idea was to establish a world-class research and treatment center for diseases of the lungs at Cedars-Sinai. This would require resources far beyond any fundraising goal we had ever set for ourselves.

We didn’t let that stop us.
Former Women’s Guild President Vera Guerin and her husband, Paul, took the crucial first step, giving $5 million in 2007 toward a $20 million pledge to create the Women’s Guild Lung Institute. This was the largest pledge from a support group in Cedars-Sinai’s history. They also endowed the Vera and Paul Guerin Chair in Pulmonary Disease Research.

Women’s Guild completed its $20 million endowment for the Women’s Guild Lung Institute in 2012 — two years ahead of schedule.

Thanks to the Guerins and other generous donors who have followed their lead, two nationally recognized specialists — Paul Noble, MD, Director, and Zab Mosenifar, MD, Medical Director — have combined forces at the Institute to fulfill what Dr. Mosenifar refers to as “a grand vision whose time has come.”
